About me

Hey there,

My name is Sadio and welcome to Bare-foot my personal travel blog as I explore the world.

When I set out on my travelling adventure, I did it alone but that was three years ago and I now have a girlfriend who occasionally joins me on my trips as well as sometimes being accompanied by friends, family and strangers.

I’m South African however grew up in Brighton in the UK. I moved here when I was 8 years old. When I was 12, I returned to South Africa with my parents for a holiday and absolutely loved going back to the country I grew up in and vowed to visit as much as possible.

When I turned 16, I headed back to my home country with my brother and did a bit of exploring of not only SA but the neighbouring countries as well.

I guess this was quite an unusual way to kick off my travelling experience, going back home but it really did ignite my passion for travel.

That was 8 years ago and today I’m full-time travel blogger who writes for National Geographic, Lonely Planet and a host of other travel publications, as well as Bare-Foot of course.

South Africa Travel

I have always loved writing and was well underway with my travelling adventure when becoming a blogger really started so I got a great head start and have really grown with blogging and social media.

I have seen and explored some of the best places in the world, walked the Great Wall of China and seen the Pyramids up close & personal.

Bare-Foot is a place for you to join me on my adventures, hear all about my experiences and generally just keep up to date with what I’m up to.

Another passion of mine in photography but only in the past 2 years have I taken it seriously and really invested in decent equipment. I found I was often having to pay for external photographers as my iPhone wasn’t cutting it for publication and as I see such incredible sights every day, I wanted to capture it myself.

You’ll see a lot of my photography on Bare-Foot but please bear with me as I learn and perfect my photography skill.

I love to hear from my readers as I travel the world so if you have any questions, want to share your experiences or just want to have a chat about a country then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I may be wandering through a remote jungle with new friends but I will try to get back to you as soon as I have a decent WiFi connection.

I can’t wait to hear from you all and make sure you follow my social media for the latest from me.
